2003 Civic, Help!
Next Saturday (19th) I will be 18, and I'm going to purchase a new Honda Civic, I was wondering if this price is too high or anything..
$19,850 < Our the door. (03, EBP Civic, 5-Speed EX)
The sticker price was $18,600, plus the taxes, it would of came to around $21,000
I know I can get them lower, but I was just wondering..

That price is way too high. You could get an Si for cheaper than that. They should start around 16-17K.

No one pays sticker price....You werent able to get the sales guy down in price? If not I would goto another dealer. Do not buy from the first dealer you goto unless you get an really good deal, which you wont be getting there....That car should be around $16,000-$17,000.

I paid $15,700 for my SI new. So like civicdude said, shop around first. Take the first offer you got to another dealership and ask if they can beat it. They will of course tell you yes and more than likely they will offer about $1000 less. Then you take the new deal back to the first dealership and see if they can beat it. Get the idea? Make them work for you. Have them go back and forth till one of them offers you a really good deal.
I just ripped this from www.kbb.com go there and check it out.

anyways you should be able to get the 03 EX for about 16500 out the door easily
For $20K it should come with factory foglights, full underbody spoiler, rear wing, cd player etc. etc. if it's a base ex your getting swindled. Car dealers are notorious for adding huge mark up. It goes something like this: Car retails for $17500 they mark it up to $19500 and give you a thousand dollar discount!! What the average person does'nt realize is that is still a $1000 to $1500 too much!! Buying a car is like playing a game. The object for them is to TAKE as much of your money as you'll let them. Your object is to KEEP as much of your money as possible.
Another trick I learned is to watch out for the "extra sticker". I'm talking about right next to the original sticker there will be another sticker that says "dealer added options and services". This is usually 99% fluff or in other words sheer profit for the dealer.
The sad thing is - it works on a lot of people. Picture your innocent grandma or your naive cousin Jenny going into the dealer and just buying the car. Some people don't know jack about negotiations. People like that never even realize they have just been had.
The bottom line is to go armed with information. KNOW the price of the car you want BEFORE going to talk to the dealer. If your bringing a trade, know what it is worth. Right this stuff down or print a hard copy and bring it with you. Bring YOUR OWN calculator, good luck asking for one once your head is spinning from all of the numbers they start throwing around.
And finally, don't go with a friend or relative that is easily sold. The last time I bought a car, I leaned on the salesman so hard my girlfirend started to feel bad for him. She started saying stuff like "well I can agree with that" and "that seems fair". Don't get me wrong I love my girlfriend, but inside I was screaming STFU!!
Remember, It's OK if the salesperson doesn't like you. As a matter of fact, if he seems real happy and nice, he's probably making too much money on the deal!! Make him WORK FOR HIS MONEY. Don't be easy and don't be a sucker. Keep your money, get a great deal, and WIN THE GAME!!

Got my 03 EX coupe auto for 16.5 out the door including the factory wing and wheel locks, dont be afraid to just get the manager to your table outright and hit him hard right off the bat.
Go here!
Best place to get the best price is HERE.
In my area, I found a 2k3 Civic EX for $14,850 without options.

hey, go to www.carsdirect.com select the car you want print out the page with the specs of your car and the price and take it to the dealer, most dealers have to match it, due to an agreement from honda and carsdirect.com
You should note that these guys bought coupes and most likely manuals. If you're getting a sedan and auto, the price should be up at least $500 more. Another thing to note is where you buy the car. The more demand, the price that they can charge gets higher. Keep these things in mind and don't expect to get the price that some people here got.
If you want the best deal without doing any kind of dealings, go with newspaper ads.

yea wut i did was shop around and just dont waste ur time with going to the dealer just go to their websites and tell them to contact u through email and then mention to them the price u want. and I gave them information on wut type of make and model and they tried to beat all the dealers prices the they told me to print out the price quote they sent me via email and bring it to them they went 500 dollars below the msrp for the ex. i think the price was like 15,400 or something close to that. But thats a good way to look at it or better yet carsdirect.com like they said

that does sound pretty high. When you're negotiating the price, demand that you get free lifetime oilchanges for your Civic. I managed to get my dealer to throw in a lifetime of free oil changes for my car. It's pretty sweet. Saves me about $30 every visit.
I overpaid for my DX.
But I was the first to drive a 7th gen in my area, maybe even north jersey.
lease:
I probably could find a 2002 LX or a 2001 EX today for the price I paid back in 2000.

i got lifetime oil changes and car washes....and not once have i taken advantage of them...like id really like to schedule an appointment, and take a day off of work just so i can sit at the dealership for 4 hours while i get my oil changed and 'complementary car wash' that always leaves soap residue everywhere...when i got my car, my mom and i fought over it. it took 8 hours for them to drop the price. and i loved how they kept showing us this 'invoice' that had the wholesale prices of each car model on it...and it had big black print that said "CONFIDENTIAL" kiss my ***, no way in hell i was gonna pay 14 something for a DX.
