Oh yeah the k24 swap would be a waste of money in our cars, get the type s engine, it was built for speed, ,more after market parts, there is a thread in FI/swaps about this,n and in the thread"if you could have only one mod" there is more on it. Turbo the the k2oA2 and you get 324 whp w/ stock motor, you cannot get that out of a k24 with stock internals, unless it is the tsx engine, but those are so expensive. Great the ks4 pulls on our civics every time, well of course, try that with rsx and see what happens.

umm no its not
buy one for 800 bucks, put a k20a2 head for 200 bucks, get k pro 500 bucks
Hasport mounts 600 bucks etc etc
It adds out to about the same if not a little cheaper and you get a **** load more torque.
I would swap a TSX engine into our cars, why? 1500 bucks seen them for in the junk yards. Thats a deal
k20's are still running 2 grand or higher!

Rep Power: 257 I never meant that honda luver did not have the best set up. I remember reading an article about the "poor man's TSX engine", and i remember them saying it was the best of both worlds, and figured that the TSX engine was more expensive. I also remember reading somewhere on hear that the TSX was more expensive, makes since because it is a pricier car. My only point was that putting an accord/crv engine in our cars is a waste of many and K20A2 would be better, which is true.

Rep Power: 338 I don't mean to cause any offense or anything, but $200 for a k20a2 is ridiculous ... where do you see that around?
I see those heads going for $600 at the lowest

Rep Power: 338 ^ yeah I've seen some for like $300 ... but no cams and/or some machine work needed ... but not even close enough to saying that you can "put an $800 k24 block with a $200 k20a2 head on there" :|

Rep Power: 257 So, what the hell, this guy must be a hell of a researcher, and ontop of that he is skewing things. Missing a valve or two!!!!
Is he off his rocker, how could say that it would cost a little less than k20a2 swap!!!
You could also find a K20a2 in shitty condition for cheap, or one that needed alot of work.

Rep Power: 338 I agree ... no offense whitecastle, but you should do some more research and talk to hondaluver about a k24/k20 frankenstein ... it will cost much more than a k20a2 swap.
let's put things into perspective (the prices may vary slightly due to the kind of deals a person can get, but this is generally accurate):
K20a2 motor, trans, ecu, shift linkage - $3000
subframe - $300
hasport mounts - $500
k20a3 axles - $200
ep3 stock radiator - $150
hasport harness - $250 (?)
total: approx. $4400 if you do all the labor yourself
K24a2 motor, trans, ecu, shift linkage - $1500 (according to WhiteCastle)
K20a2 head - $200 (according to WhiteCastle)
K20a2 ecu* - $200
K20a2 throttle body - $200
K20 subframe - $300
K20a2 transmission - $900
hasport mounts - $500
ep3 stock radiator - $150
hasport harness - $250 (?)
k20a3 axles - $200
head gasket - $35
type S intake manifold - $200 (?)
Kpro - $1000
total: appro. $5635 if you do all the labor yourself... which includes putting the K20a2 head onto the K24a2 block.
I am NOT an expert at K24/k20 frankensteins .. but I know for a fact that the TSX throttle body will NOT work with swap. I'm 80% sure the TSX ecu will NOT work with the swap either, also I'm almost positive a k24 transmission or subframe will not work with the swap either.
Labor charges for a k24/k20 frankenstein are going to be ridiculous if you cannot DIY. there also may be some parts that you need to buy that I don't know of ... such as the timing chain, serpentine belt and whatever other parts may be needed.
but also realize that the $5635 total to DIY the swap includes WhiteCastle's pricing. I have never seen a full, complete k20a2 head go for less than $600 (which includes cams, solenoid, full working valves/springs, valve cover, etc). I have never seen a full K24a2 swap go for $1500 either ... cheapest I have seen it is $3000 shipped ... you may be able to get a full complete K24a2 short block for $1500 ... if you're extremely patient and go pick up locally.
bottom line: it's cheapest, easier and less hassle to swap a k20a2.
whitecastle: where are you getting kpro for $500?
