Rep Power: 0 Upgrade wipers to full intermittant
I have a 2010 Civic that has the "psycho wiper" issue. From my research this is due to the park switch going bad in the motor. I have a couple of questions:
1) Can the switch be replaced separately or do I have to replace the entire wiper motor?
2) If I replace the motor, is it possible to go from the semi-intermittant system I have now (where it only has one intermittant speed) to the one where it has several speeds available similar to the Pilot, Accord, and I think higher-end Civics? What would be involved in that? As I recall, when I bought the new wiper stalk (thinking it was the problem) there was an option for one that had the full range of speeds on intermittent.
Thanks in advance.

I was able to do that on my 05, the connector for the wiper switch had the correct number of wires so I just put in the variable intermittent switch. You probably need to replace the motor.
I would just grab the motor and linkage from a low mileage car in the junkyard. And grab all the cowl clips so you have extras for when you break the ones on your car

so that would be similar to the 05 which has 2 extra wires for the variable intermittent.
this is what it looks like for an 05:

When I replace the motor I may give it a shot. If I have the two wires I'll do it but I'm not running an extra wire just to do that.

From what CraigW said it sounds like you would just have one extra wire in the switch connector. Only way to check is to find the connector and check the number of wires.
