Question Which is better FIPK II or TYPHOON

Now I know both CARB approved and that the Typhoon cost more than FIPK Gen II, my question is.. which is better?

Does one give you better HP than the other or is the Typhoon mainly same as the FIPK but just looks better. I contacted K&N and they said they were the same (as far as gain) but I just wanted to get everyone here who has either one to see what's better so I can decide which way to go.

Thanks in advance.

imo, the typhoon cai isn't as good as the fipk. reason being is that the fipk doesn't get hot, and since the typhoon is make of metal, it probably gets at least somewhat warm. Aside from that, everyone seems to agree that fipk is one of the best... I own it ... but I can't say that I've used any other intakes on my car before (ahem, hothondacivic), or at least not yet. fipk gives a lot of mid range power... that is, 3500-6500 it really boosts power. It seems to struggle in the last 4-500 rpms though.

I had an Injen SRI and I now have a K&N FIPK II and what I like is, like aznboysrfr said, it did increased my mid range. I do miss the sound of the Injen though.

I have FIPK II - it's awesome. Great mid-range sound, good performance improvement, and ga mileage (if you don't constantly rev the hell outta the engine to hear it growl)

I'm really happy with mine

yeah unfortunately I'm going to have to agreed.

I like my FIPK too.

and this is my 4th intake. lol.

injen sri, ebay cai, improved ebay cai, and finally.. FIPK.

the typoon SRI is waste of money. their CAI is neat cuz it comes with the drycharger... but it doesn't fit on all models.. so...

FIPK is really quality stuff. the heatshield works. I can totally feel the difference in heat from one side, to another.

the material of the tubbing isnt that big of a deal though... even if the tube gets hot.. the air doesn't stay in the tube long enough to get heated up. unless I guess if you're starting off initially from a stop, etc.

I wouldn't pay that much for a FIPK though. still just a fancy name, short ram with a heatshield.

i got $160 for it and I'm happy.. although I think its only worth at most, 150 shipped. I could have got it for 140 shipped but someone had to go into a bid war with me.

HEY CAP! It seems like you're loving your FIPK! Thanks for buying it from me man, I would have had to take off my Type-R strut bar to make it fit anyway. And I didn't get the RSX Wing, b/c its not going to fit, dayam I wanted it bad too. Well instead I bought a car DVD/TV tuner, and now I'm waiting for my screen to come... Hows your gas mileage with the intake?

eh I dont know if its better than injen CAI.

yeah the fipk is working good.

mileage I dont know, I've been smashing the pedal more..

its weird. I guess I like the sound better than the generic CAI I had. or the Injen SRI I had.

thats cool, the DVD/tv tuner is a more functional product than a RSX wing. heh.

I would say that if you buy the FIPK, you will not have any real regrets.

First, it is a SRI, so you don't have to worry about water puddles. The Typhoon is down lower. So since the power gains are about the same, I would opt for safety any day.

The kit was easy to install, had everything, and did wake up the performance in the mid range. It looks good without being flashy. And you will never need to buy another filter for you car.

If I had to do it all over again, I would still buy it. And if you are going along, it is still quiet, so it does not attract attention from the po po. That is until you mash the throttle and then you hear a nice growl.

all sri intakes are going to be about the same, now filters can make a diff, ex: blitz all metal mesh filter is going to have a higher flow rate vs a cotton filter
