Adjusted throttle cable, removed resonator
Adjusted throttle cable, removed resonator
Had some time to try the DIY on the throttle cable. Very easy to do and feels much better, no more play on the gas pedal. While I was under the hood I thought I would try removing the resonator box to see how that sounds. Ive heard it sounds a lot like having an intake. Only took about 10mins to take it off with the right tools. The sound you get from the engine is much deeper from around 2500-5000rpms. You also get a a bit of a swoosh sound if you rev it up real quick, not very loud though. As far as performance , it feels about the same. Im sure if you throw it on the dyno it might show a bit of a loss because its sucking in warmer air but I can't really feel it either way.
i Would have to agree with like Weeeee on this removeing the resonator box that is a bit of a cut back on Proformance. But in the same hand i myself like the sound i am sure u can find a nother way to make the sound still with out pulling the resonator box out.
Like I said if you put the car on the dyno it would probly prove a couple ponies lost because of the warmer air but I can't feel it. The resonator easily bolts back on so its no big deal really, just an experiment.

why not just go buy a cold air intake? rofl. i got exhast and the resenator cut off on the piping so its pretty much a straight pip from the cadaylac converter with a injen race division cai and its done some really good performance ways for my car, better off the line and top end!!

I removed mine too, but then it started raining and i live in a dusty new home area, so its not worth me sucking in water when it rains, or dust on a daily basis, so i put it back and im gonna wait for my AEM COLD AIR, that actually may give me some power and sounds much much nicer!

I was thinking I might try to make my own intake or if not go with the Injen race division cold air intake. I think the Injen would work very well with my Tsunami bumper. You should be able to see the filter through the bumper grill. That should be about the coldest air you can get. BTW Slammedcivic why would you suck in water or dust if you still have the filter in place?

I found the Check Point intake was the best for the buck. Got it off of Ebay for $85.00
It is chrome, but I think I would switch to the iceman since the metal gets very hot to the touch.

both of thoes modification will result in worse mpg... heh.
as for the ebay auction.. I'm not sure if that includes the bypass valve.. he didn't really mention anything about it in the auction..s ure he has a pic of the "CAI" with the bypass valve... but he could just be trying to make it seem like thats a part of the deal.

Why would removing the slack from the throttle cable result in worse gas mileage? Only difference now is that I dont have a bunch of play in my gas pedal, im not feeding the engine more gas or anything.
