New Headers questions

Hello, im new to this site and i have been on this site a couple of times, learning about stuff. I have a 2002 honda civic lx coupe that currently has a CAI on it. Lol nothing much yet. I just bought a Magnaflow Cat back exhaust system for it. It will be going on soon! Im interested in doing the full exhaust system. Im thinking about getting Megan Racing Headers and a Universal Magnaflow High Flow Cat Converter. Will this all fit together and work? I see stuff that the header replaces the cat converter? but it wont pass Emissions test? I live in Texas. The magnaflow cat back system piping is 2.25". Will the headers outlet need to be 2.25"? The headers will be 4-1-1. My main concern is that can i buy the headers and the cat converter and will it all fit together and work? Once again im new to the site and any help would be appreciated!

Re: New Headers questions

Since you have an Lx your cat is incorporated into your headers. If you buy an aftermarket header you will loose your cat so you will need to buy a cat. Read this thread:

The good thing about the Magnaflow is that it fits both an Lx and ex so it has the down pipe if you need it.

Re: New Headers questions

Your going to either have to go with a FULL EX or LX system, not a little of both. You can convert your car to EX it really isn't that hard as long as you have all the parts. Don't forget while your ordering parts to get an o2 simulator while your playing around, just in case you need it. If your going to get a universal your going to have to weld it on so be careful there. It might be more worthwhile just to get a Random Tech bolt on cat. Dezod has them for ~ 300 bucks but you can probably find it cheaper elsewhere.

Re: New Headers questions

Ok..... it sounds like i either have to get the Magnaflow Header that is incorporated with the cat converter...... or i can get a Megan Racing Header with a downpipe with the cat converter? Is that correct?
What i just found out, is that my exhaust system that i recieved in the mail the other day comes with a downpipe. So, all i have to do it buy the Megan headers and then buy the cat converter and have it welded to the downpipe? Im not gonna do any welding. Im gonna bring it to a shop to have it installed.

Re: New Headers questions

Correct. You either need to buy another Lx cat manifold or by ex headers and have a cat welded into your down pipe. Might want to check local prices for the welding. Might be cheaper just to buy the random tech cat.
