Re: Rate your intake
do you guys have pics of the dual chamber WR pipe, cause mine is only single chamber pipe. i know there are at least two dif designs too and one has the sensor hole right next to the tb instead of in the mid pipe like mine.
Re: Rate your intake
as requested,

however, i did not want to take it apart... the dual pipe isn't throughout the entire pipe, it is about where the Weapon R sticker is and is as long as the straight through part.
note the different spot for the o2 sensor. had to extend the wire to do that.

Re: Rate your intake
ya that looks like it might be the second gen design. and there is one just like that where the sensor hole is right above the TB instead of int he middle of the pipe. mine doesnt have a sticker either.
Re: Rate your intake
i had a weapon-r sri just like above ^^^^ i had it for a year and it broke... put the stock air intake back on and WOW... stock is alot better haha big difference i actually laughed out loud the first time i drove my car after getting the stock one put back on

2001 Civic Lx
AEM short ram intake
Fit - - - - - - 4 (It has some hood clearence issues and rubs against the
stock intake bracket.)
Power - - - - 2 (noticeable torque lost at lower end, little gain at very high
ends. On a D17, dont expect too much)
Loudness - - 4
AEM V2
Fit - - - - - - 4.5 (Again, the air filter rubs the stock intake bracket)
Power - - - - 3 (Less low end loss then the SRI, and a little mid end gain.
Again it is on a D17, dont expect too much)
Loudness - - 5 (It is loud)
Misc. - - - - It is very Pricey, and for our cars, the gain is minor to none.

2002 Civic Coupe SI
Injen IS short ram (black)
Fit - - - - - - 4 (5 with a little ingenuity)
Power - - - - 2 (its bark is worse than its bite)
Loudness - - 4 (pretty mean bark)
Misc. - - - - like how low profile it is...makes life easier when shopping for strut bar.
running stock exhaust

weapon R Dragon
Polished aluminum black filter looks nice
4 fit fine just needed smaller grommet for sensor
4 definite torque increase. sound on high rpm fools me into thinking higher gains than there is
5 sounds perfect

AEM V2
Fit : 3, touches my battery, bracket broke, rubs against clutch line, clamps dont all fit.
Power : 4, you'll know it's there after 3000 or so RPM...
Loudness : 5, It's loud! Makes my ear ring if I keep it above 5500 RPM with the windows closed.
AEM V2, it's a SRI NOT CAI.
This is a SRI, not CAI. The length is just slightly longer than a stardard AEM SRI.

Re: Rate your intake
K&N typhoon
Fit: 5 (looks great, and went on easy)
Power: 5 (not to picky on this one, definitely an increase in power)
Loudness: 4 (not as loud with friends with same one on 08 civic vs my 05...dont know why, deep rumble then engine sounds picks up with whistle like sucking from the intake)
Worth every penny, was expensive though but way better then some ebay metal.

K&N Typhoon SRI
Fit = 5 (hardly any adjustments needed, fit perfectly)
Power = 3 (They say about a 5hp gain, I'd say more like 3, but it still feels a bit faster)
Loudness = 4 (It really screams when you step on it. Very nice roar to it.)

Re: Rate your intake
I know this thread is like YEARS old, but I personally just bought an SRI from ebay. Then bought a kick *** Weapon R secret filter ( haha sounds like a joke). I can honestly say i saved like half the money (spent like 85 total?).
Fit: 4 (Fit the engine well, had to modify the mounting bracket. Or bend I should say)
Power: 3.5 (I noticed much better throttle response, as well as better performance at higher rpms, 4000+)
Loudness: 4.5 (DEFINATELY loud when throttle is full on open).
Overall I'd have to say, get a generic pipe for a SRI and get a good filter. A pipe is just a pipe (unless its really badly designed), but the filter makes all the difference. Then again I have a 2000 civic with tons of room on that side due to the lack of stock intake now
. So maybe theres just better circulation in there.

Anybody with this type of intake should go get their money back. You might as well tape some coffe cans together and zip tie it on the throttle body. It would probably have the same effect as the piece of **** you get from autozone. Honestly the stock intake on the car works better then that plastic tube. Remember, performance parts are like anything else....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Of course there are some things that are overpriced and ways to cut down on costs, but come on people, if you dont want to just be another wannabe ricer everybody laughs at then either leave your **** stock and be happy or if you want to make it a performance car do it the right way the first time.

Re: Rate your intake
ha i saw those at autozone and at first they looked metal so i asked the guy if they are metal or plastic, he says metal. im thinking they dont quite look right, and it says not to overtighten the crappy connectors. so i opened one and banged on it, sure enough chromed plastic. the worst thing you can use for an intake where you want all the connectors to be silicone and tightened as much as possible to prevent air leaks and accidents. unless you get a K&N plastic one piece intake, its not worth it. stick with metal.
Re: Rate your intake
Instead of washing the filter, it's a disposable intake. Kinda like a diaper. Once it's full of crap, throw it away. You don't even need to loosen any screws. Tear-away.

Re: Rate your intake
lol yeah better for heat soak, but you can barely tighten the connections without the pipe breaking. and its not even intake grade plastic that other companies use, this is really cheap stuff you can get at home depot and make your own for pennies. with all the engine vibration, those pipes would shake themselves to pieces.

Well, since winter is coming around again I picked up an Acura 1.7EL. That is, the luxurious version of the Civic EX, made specifically for Canada
I purchased this "BCP" CAI a few days ago http://www.ebay.ca/itm/BCP-01-05-Civ...item1e67a1fb70
Will update once its installed. If people are worried about Hydrolock, this can be converted to a SRI. Either way, the car sound much better without the intake resonator. Everyone should bench their sound to the stock airbox with res delete.
