I would say get the AEM V2....its LOUD when you want it to be...and its pretty silent when you want it to be.....When it gets to about 5800RPM+ my doors start to shake a lil its so loud....but then if I want it to be silent I just don't floor it and its perfectly silent.....install is easy....it looks nice....and as for power gains I felt my low end improve a bit, as for my top end Im pretty sure it improved but its not significant enough to feel it, I just know when I raced that mustang after punching it the same ammount I do I looked down at my guages I expected to be around 100-105 but I was at 110....so I'm not sure if thats because of the intake or just I was punching it longer than I thought I was....but in my opinion AEM V2 is good

That is a bogeling dyno chart, it does sound reasonable. I wouldnt say an intake is an intake, the filters are alot diferent.

I got my AEM sri because i'll never have to buy stock filters again, it looks dope, it was $120 with a large cleaning kit shipped from ADVENTON.com and it's real easy to install.

You know what I noticed about the AEM sri, I remember it used to be 1 piece, now it's 2 piece going from thick to this pipe, almost like a V2. Mines a 2 piece.

I used to have a K&N Typhoon cold air intake on my ex. It was pretty loud when you were on the gas, but just cruising 1/4 throttle or so it was silent. It was very easy for me to convert it to a short ram. I could do it in like 5 minutes. For those who have or had typhoon intakes you know that it's real easy to switch IF YOUR CAR IS NOT LOWERED. I thought the typhoons were great. And I agree with you guys I would have to see some solid proof about the lx auto with ONLY AN INTAKE pulling off those kind of numbers.

hmm... back from over 1/2 year ago. Bottom line is, if anyone gets a CAI, they best expect low end loss and NOT complain about it (if thats not what you want, then go with what gearbox said). If thats ok with you, Injen CAI.

Because I didn't realize at the time. Stock makes way more power at low/mid rpms, and it's tuned for the engine. I'm running stock now and won't get another intake unless it gives 10hp or something (which won't happen). A few people have iceman and say its the best, and technically it's cold air cause it takes air from the edge of the engine bay where its cool. If you really want cold air, do the throttle body heater bypass.

stock IS the best CAI for normal usage, & FIPK is not CAI.

Is stock also better for when you get on the gas in the higher RPM's? If so my V2 is for sale.

my stock intake is more than enough. I don't have any flat spots, just a smooth curve all the way to redline. I just did the throttle body heater bypass and now it feels like I have a cai without all the noise.

going by what youre saying, then what gearbox said about the Iceman is wrong.

I think this one is personal opinion. Intakes usually suffer on the low end and gain in the high end.... so if youre into the high RPM driving style, then keep the V2... I have 1 and I'm happy... but I suggest getting underdrive pullies as well.

Why isn't stock a cai? It's an intake, and it sucks in cool air by the fender. I just don't drive enough at 6000rpm to make it worth the 4hp and all the ricey noise.

it sucks that only 2 of us have the iceman. it's hard to judge by two peoples opinions. I like the fact that the iceman hasn't really dropped in performance that much from -20 weather to +20 weather (celcius). There's still nothing wrong with the stock intake. it is very well tuned for the engine. i think intakes work better with the whole I/H/E combo (hi flow cat too).

the stock intake would be classified as an "airbox" ... like the mugen airbox for the rsx and comptech icebox... not a cai.

if you want to argue that the d17 has a cai as a factory intake, then all hondas have cai's because all of them (most notably, the dc2-gsr and dc2r) have cais stock ... and they don't.

IDK, I used to have a 5spd 95 Hatch DX with the D15B non-vtec and one of those big plastic whale looking "spoon" intakes, and I swear that thing would fly...it didnt have power steering though....maybe that had something to do with it?

I dunno... I've had problems with Short rams bangin up my hood. Bein an auto, I can't find a full CAI for my ride. So far the one that I'm gonna be getting soon is the injen IS. It seems to be one of the only intakes that looks actually designed for the contours and curves of our civics.
