as far as the warranty goes, most dealerships are asses about it. Your taillight could go out and they blame it on your window tint. So if anything goes wrong and you go in for warrantied repair, take all the aftermarket crap you can off.

I checked ebay. There are alot of headers for the 01 and later civic but they all say EX cept for this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2451451111 . Will that one work? will the ex ones work? Nots sure what fits what.

I put in a dc sports 4-1 header on my 03 EX a few months ago. I also have an ebay intake, and the combo of the two makes the car much more fun. Not a racer, but more like a sports car. I always felt like the car was a bit underpowered before. Now it seems about right. The header does not make the exhaust louder like the intake did. But it definitely pulls stronger above 3500 rpm. Also, I think it worked together with the intake. I recommend dc sports.

the problem with dc is that it's almost the same size as stock! Any sizeable upgrade in power you feel is in your head; its doesn't show up on the dyno at least. If you're going to get a new header, get a Megan Racing/ OBX header. I got one used for $50. They're larger diameter than DC; that and smooth curves is all that matters with headers.

DC Headers are expensive and will not do anything to the engine.
Good Headers for our cars:
Kamikaze headers
OBX-R Headers
"Tuned by Matrix" ceramic headers.
HKS Full header

But DC Sports wont do anything for your car.

you wont get any gains on the exhaust side without getting kami or hp headers, no cat, and no larger than 2.25 - 2.5 pipe... with it mabie 5-7hp if you already have the intake side done.... emmisions and power are not able to comprimise.... either swap your old exhaust back for smog or pay the man like everyone else in cali does lol

Only real header that makes good power ist he HP 4-1 Race Header H26. Gains are about 7-9whp from stock and comes with a cat, header (full) and o2 sim box .

I have a 4-1 long tube Top Speed header (ends under the car not in the same place as stock + means I dont have a down pipe) 1 3/4 primary tubes closing off into a 2.5 inch collector into a 2.5 inch cat delete pipe. I know I know not street legal...I spend alot of time at the track...I have a replacement cat delete pipe that I had a OBDII cat welded into. But oh hell yea...I gained a but load of mid to high end with the header. But at the same time I am not a user so if you are looking for something that is easy to install you dont have to worry about passing the gas reader then I would go with an HP then.

Megan racing headers suck. I put one on and I think there terrible. Go with HP or DC much better quality.

waht I was told from my honda dealer is that ANY modification from stock will void the honda GOLD warrently. For the basic warrenty only if the aftermarket part caused the problem will it void the warrenty

and if you want to put a header on a DX or LX you need to get a header and a CAT then have your desired diameter tube bent for the rest of the pipe, or you can use the stock size piping and have a piece bent to make the down tube

This is what I want to know

Has anyone used a header for their car that looks like this:

Or this:

I am currently running a race header that looks like this but, I ran over a racoon on some farm road following my wife in the truck back from Dallas during the Big Houston Evac and it some how managed to find a thing spot in the tubing from being drag over one too many speed bumps and well now there is a hole...

Anyway...I am wanting to get another header of similar build and just thought that maybe I would get some of your opinions.

Headers on an '04 EX Coupe

I read somewhere in this board that aftermarket headers don't make much of a difference with an EX, as the 01-05 EX 1.7 comes with a factory 4-1 header. Is that really true, and why do they sell so many of these if that is the case?

I would almost buy one for the looks alone, even if they didn't do much. I just bought my '04 a few weeks ago, has about 20K miles, and the "header" is under a heat shield and it already looks pretty rusty. It doesn't have the same shape as a real header, looks like a stock manifold to me. But I don't know, I haven't dealt with these things in years. I used to have a '90 CRX Si years ago in which I put in a header, and thought I could feel the difference.

If the factory is a 4-1, is an aftermarket 4-2-1 better? Also, I really need to know if adding a header will make this car too loud. I want to add a different exhaust, but I want a muffler that will keep the car QUIET. I like the deeper tone, but not the loud raspy type of tone. Anyone got a suggestion on a good header/exhaust combo for this? I also want to add a cold air intake, I'm pretty sure that will add noise too.

I have also heard that with the 01-05 Civics, that the connection between the header and cat has to be physically cut (not just un-bolting a flange like with my CRX) and the header and/or exhaust has to be welded into place. I've heard this will drive up the price on the installation. Again, any suggestions? I don't want to void my warranty either, and not sure on the specifics regarding that.
