Alright look at the pic, there is a hole where an intake tube can be run through to go to the front right bumper(or atleast in older civcs this is what that hole is for), if you open up this hole the ram air tube can fit through there and run to the front bumper. The way i have mine right now is going under the battery and through a long hole where (if youve seen SF's turbo kit its where the tubes are running through to the front bumper) then it goes to the front bumper. Also you will need to mount the scoop pretty far out on the bumper to avoid such a huge bend, its pretty much level with the licence plate.

Ok, in the picture marked 1, that's how the Ram Air tube attaches to the Weapon R intake. I guess in this case, it not only brings colder air up to it, but it also forces the air into the intake (the purpose of Ram Air) and therefore creates more power.
But I wonder if you could modify it to fit with an intake filter that doesn't bring in air from the front, such as a K&N filter (picture marked 2). In this case, it looks like the tube would just bring up colder air that the intake would suck in, but it would lose the "Ram" effect.
What do you think?

Do you have a filter that allows air in through the front?
Hey, I checked out that hole that you pointed out... I don't think a 3" diameter pipe could fit through it. It looked kind of small. You mean the hole that's in the frame behind the right front headlight, right?
Dude, you and I totally pw this thread.
But seriously, I am VERY interested in this application. And I'm still waiting for your pics.

100th post in this thread
How are you attaching the opening part to the grill?
If you give this a good review and pics when you're done I'll probably get it.

You know, if someone made a custom hood with a little scoop in front of where the intake sits, this kit would be awesome. The air would only have to travel a small distance in almost a straight line.
Can you post a picture of a top view of the plastic piece that the filter attaches to. I'm talking about the piece that goes in the grill to get the air. I want to see what the shape is where it attaches to the pipe (er, vaccuum hose).
If the tube is 3", I think I may be DIY'ing this.

How do you have it set up now before the dremeling? You obviously have it setup some how since you say you got good gains.
wow ya'll do know that the whole ram air thing is a myth right? you have to be traveling approx. half the speed of sound for it to make even the slightest difference. by having only a tube 3" and Long, you will succede in choking the airflow. those dyno charts are full of crap, they arent even real.

i dont have any pix but it works way better than CAI. i cut about 3 1/4 hole and use an old k&n filter and got a 3'' tube and made it flush with the hood and bame!
Perfect ram air! best at night when m-nice and cool.
for all of those i might be at the nor cal tech meet to show it!

My04WRX, interesting article. I think I've read it before, actually. I've read people's accounts on different websites of their success with DIY and Kit Ram Air modifications.
2K1CivicRacer, that sounds cool, do you have any pics?

BWM Z3 <-- Kinda RAM air but not really. Not really DIY either.
On some truck. <-- Good pictures
Some editorial I didn't read
Some people talking about it on an Evo forum

Dyno testing on a ram-air system is hard to prove since you have to be pushing the air into the intake. If the car is sitting still it's just like having a CAI. But 1/4 mile numbers don't lie, ram-air does work and when properly dynoed with air actually being pushed into the intake at the same speed as the car is going, there have been gains as high as 15%.

Duh. I don't know why the hell I said K&N up there. I fixed it.
cdmx I'm still waiting for you to answer some of my questions, like did you have to remove the bumper to install the ram tube?
