in the engine bay the tube from the ram air kit is attached to the filter on my short ram intake.....the short ram intake acts like a normal intake but I added the tube to it. so if i close off the ram air kit the sri can still suck in air. Im sure it would work better if i put in a heatshield around the filter.

Cool. What about if you drive through a dusty construction area? Would the filter thing keep out the dust?

Haha dude i've asked you like 100 questions about this. I guess I'll just wait until I see the installed pics.
But all the questions mean I'm totally interested cuz I wouldn't waste my time asking about it if I wasn't.

Here's more info I found about it:
For Subaru WRX (I know it's not our car), this Ram Air kit got a rating of 5/5. List of rated WRX parts. Specific Ram Air kit reviews, with users comments including strengths and weaknesses. It's interesting to note that also there someone mentioned that it made your intake quieter, just like cdmx noticed.
Here's one pic of the install:

But I think when it's actually fully installed, the hose connects to the filter like this:

^Interesting. Looks like you need a Weapon-R intake filter thing for it to fit exactly right. (Is this true, cdmx?)
This picture is called "cold air shield installed"

Dyno of Weapon-R ram air kit, and comparison of Weapon-R intakes to other brands (might be biased)
Pics of Ram Air kit installation from here (there's a few more I didn't link to).
Hope this post was helpful.

One more link:
Installation instructions. Kinda crappy tho because it's only one page long and without pictures.

Yes its true, it will "bolt" on alot easier if you buy the weapon R filter....may purchase that later...but my setup is working fine now.
But like you mentioned earlier, im not sure how it sucks in air with that heat shiled on when the rainshield is on the scoop. Ill email them about it. If it can still suck air in like an SRI. then i think i might find a dragon filter.

I just emailed them.
cdmx, one more question. The tube that brings the air from the ram scoop to the intake... it looks wavy on the edges (like a vaccuum hose). Is it smooth inside? If it were wavy inside, too, it would probably slow down the air a lot.

^ That email was sent to "Tech Support"
I sent the email again to their "Customer Service" and "R&D" departments.
So far these second 2 appear to not have been returned yet.

Ok I got a reply from them. They quoted my email and stuck their answers inside my quoted email, so it took me a minute to even realized they had answered my questions. Anyway, here it is, reformatted for your viewing convenience:

Hi,
(I'm sending this to the customer service and R&D addresses because the "tech
support" address is invalid and my email got returned to me.)
Your Ram Air kit looks promising, but I have a few questions for you.
1. I looked at the installation pictures. Do you need a Weapon-R intake to
make the Ram Air kit fit? I have a K&N FIPK II (Short ram with heatshield).
Do you know if it will work with that? It looks like the Weapon-R intake has
a special filter on it that the ram air kit attaches to. So will it fit
with other companies SRI's?
You need to have a Weapon*R dragon filter for this to work.
2. I see that the Ram Air kit comes with a shield to put over the ram air
opening for when it's raining. I assume this is to prevent sucking in water.
If this shield is in place, how does it get air (since it would appear that
the intake is blocked then)?
When it rains you would put the shield on and
then the filter still gets air from around the filter, the filter is not
closed off from air. Unlesss you get the cold air shield also then you would
have to disconnect the hose from the cold air shield.
3. How prone to hydrolock is it if you drove in the rain without the shield
bolted in place?
never happened... look above.
4. What if you drive by a construction site and the ram air sucks in some
dust? Will the foam filter (the rectangular one) prevent this?
Yes.
...closing formalities edited out
So he says you need one of their filters. I suppose any open-ended filter might work, but who knows. It might need a little modification.

So that heatshield that goes around the weapon*r filter has to come off when the rain shield is on the scoop....
But yea im not using the weapon*r filter...so if your good at making stuff you dont necessairly need to spend an extra 50 bucks for their filter and heatshield

There are some pics of it installed to the "previously cosmetic" hood scoop on a Subaru Outback. (I guess it was just for looks on an outback then)
Here. Look at the huge 180 degree bend he has in the ram air tube.

your right about the huge bend, this doesn't give That significant gainst cause of the bend where the scoop is and where the tube attaches...it shouldve been made better.

^ Dude let's see pics of your setup
I'm still debating on whether or not to get this. Did you ever secure the free shipping thing? I can get it for $50 + 10 shipping on eBay.

I'm still wondering how I'm going to get the Ram air hose to fit. This is pretty crowded.

It would be easier with battery relocation, but I don't really want to do that.
