Dome light works pass door

Hi everybody, newbie here, first time posting, just bought a 93 hatchback dx, the kid i bought the car from said he tried to install an alarm, but couldn't figure it out. So he stopped. Couple days later i noticed the the driver door doesn't turn the dome light on when opened, but if i open the passenger door, the dome light comes on, i tried changing the door switch's from driver to passenger, light comes on with the driver switch on the passenger side, but the driver wont turn the dome on with the passenger switch. I checked the wire going to the driver door switch with a tester light and it has no power, but when i check the passenger side wire, it has power, and the dome light switch works to either shut it of, for the doors, or keep it on. Not sure, how i can get the dome light to come on with the driver door open. I plan on getting a alarm installed from a local shop. Just not for a month or so, any help will be helpful, thank you all
