VTEC Solenoid gasket DIY?

I have an oil leak coming from my VTEC Solenoid. From what ive read the gaskets have gone bad for most people. Its seems pretty easy. Is there anyhing I should be aware of or any pointers? Thanks.

Re: VTEC Solenoid gasket DIY?

I had rivers of oil spewing due to a hard, cracked gasket... I was quoted $30 for a new one.... I'm far too cheap for that, so I just whipped out some silicone gasket goo that was laying around, and went to town. It's been holding for 2 months now, no problems.

Leaks a bunch down the back of the block, and can leak to the front across the top of the trans bellhousing- on most of the cars.
It can leak a LOT because the valve gets full oil pressure whenever the engine is running.

There are 2 rubber gaskets for the VTEC valve.
1 goes between the valve and the head, the other is for the solenoid on top of the valve.
