95 LX... no MAP sensor?
95 LX... no MAP sensor?
I just bought a 1995 Civic LX from a private party. The guy had an estimate from a local shop stating the MAP sensor needed to be replaced. The car stalls out when idle but runs fine at speed.
VIN starts 1HGEG865 and the engine code is D15B7.
I downloaded the repair manual yesterday (maybe from here, can't remember... file name is 62sr300A.pdf). According to the manual for my engine code the MAP sensor should be right on top of the throttle body. The throttle body on my Civic does not have mounting holes for the MAP sensor like the manual shows, I can't see the MAP anywhere in the engine compartment, and I don't see any unused wire harnesses hanging around.
I got halfway through removing the TPS (some bozo sheared the heads off the bolts) before I realized I wasn't removing the MAP. Can someone help me out here? Am I seriously missing a MAP sensor on my car or am I just too daft to realize where it's at?
I unplugged the TPS and when I started the car it did not stall in idle, and when it is plugged in it stalls. Any chance the mechanic goofed and thought the error was the MAP instead of the TPS?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I want to get this baby up and running so I can ditch my gas guzzling G20 van!
