b16 swap small detail questions
b16 swap small detail questions
Hey there guys, I've got a 99 civic sedan with a d16y7 and auto trans that I just got back from being stolen. Shes no longer in a functional state so I'm gonna use this as an excuse to do my b16 swap! I've got a b16a2 and hydro transmission that I'm gonna be throwing in as well as the "factory" harness for that engine.
That being said I've been doing a bunch of googles and I've been told conflicting things by some fellow Honda enthusiasts.
I've heard different things about using the factory d16 accessories on the b16 from they'll swap right over, to I'll need a power steering bracket from a CRV. I'm curious if anyone has a solid answer to these. The factory d16 has power steering, Ac and all and I'm hoping to keep them.
Now these are some things I'm personally confused by as I'm still new to Hondas.
For now its gonna be a stock b16 running its factory engine harness and I'm curious what ecu would be best to run it. I'd rather use a factory ecu and I'm unsure if I'll need a different harness for the cabin side of the firewall, and if I'd need any kind of adapter?
The b16a2 came with the hydro manual trans (unsure what that is exactly but I'm gonna google that right away) since the civic was an auto I know I'll need the pedals, and shift linkage. I'm just unsure what car I'd need the linkage from (I've heard any integras would work as well as only the civic SI linkage would work) , as well as is the clutch a hyrdaulic master or cable and again what donor vehicle is needed.
Like I said I"m new to Hondas and I'm getting blasted with info so go easy on me and thank you in advance!

Re: b16 swap small detail questions
the EM1 civic (99-00 Si coupe) came with a B16B2 under the hood. I'd just use stuff from that
p.s. hydro transmission probably just means a hydraulic clutch and not mechanical. Honda's been using hydraulic clutched for.. ever..almost. I think
