Performance d16y8 build

So just trying to get a good idea what is everybody’s opinion on the d16y8 builds and wats good to get for power I would like to see 250+ range and still have it street legal any thoughts would be great not so sure on a turbo build just yet but a very street able build would b awesome and maybe a budget around $2500. Already have a cat back n1 style that’s gonna get re done with 2.5inch from cat back. And has a cold air intake not sure if it’s running factory fuel injectors/fuel rail or what. Any ideas would be nice thanks

Re: Performance d16y8 build

You're not going to see any where near 250hp without boost.

You might get to 210hp with high compression pistons, an aftermarket camshaft and engine management/tune.

Camshaft $400
Pistons $600-$1000
Engine management $600+
Harness adapter $200
Stand alone wideband air fuel $300
Tune $300+

Might need better head studs, lighter retainers/springs, rods, fuel pump and injectors. (You'll have to research N/A builds).

I'd advise going the turbo route though because what's listed above is 2/3 of what you'll need to boost; and youll make more power.
