EJ8 Coupe questions
As the title states I am looking to improve the performance of my 2000 EX that is in near immaculate condition and am a little hesitant as to where to begin. I definitely want more speed/power/handling but I'm not necessarily shooting for the moon. I took a look at the engine swap guide and saw that a B16A2 is just a bolt in but it doesn't mention transmission. Does this mean that I would be good to go with my current transmission (automatic) or would I need to swap to a manual (not against). I only have 65,000 miles on my D16Y8 though so I have considered just turboing it.
Thoughts or opinions from anyone else with a 2000 coupe?

If your under 100k on the body and motor I wouldn't do anything your DEPENDABLE car.....
IMO I think a cheap shell and used swap will give you all the heartache of boosting your D, all while leaving you with a daily to fall back on.

The two engines have different designs. The B series is larger and so to is its transmission, the D trany will not bolt to the B block.
...and of course if you want performance, try to buy a B series engine with a manual. Your corner exit speed will be far greater. With an auto, once you hit the breaks it will select a gear to match, for best fuel savings. Say you enter in 4th gear at 5000rpm. Once you exit it will leave you in 3rd at 2800rpm.
With manual you select the gear so you can exit at 5000rpm, in power band.

=two weekends of time (2 days to pick parts, 2 two install)
=$500-$700 (if you don't need aftermarket mounts)
=going from 100whp yo 170whp
bonus points, you can add boost later.

D series low boost
(Basic kit no pistons, rods, injectors, fuel pump, clutch...)
=1 month
=$800 turbo kit online + $600 piggyback ecu +$300 tune
=@ 7psi 175whp
.....
D series full boost build
=3 months to 1 year if you have all of the parts
=$5000 or more
=@15 to 20psi 300whp - 450whp
