I have a 1999 civic ex d16y8 and my current mods are just little things magnaflow muffler stage2 clutch short throw shifter and lowered on idk springs and koni srt struts skunk 2upper caber kit I need some input on swapping for a b18c1 vtec and befor installed doining piston rods sleves possibly bore need input and block guard arp studs and other things and mian goal is to boost it to get 300-350hp with a reliable daily driver and need a list of the best set up anyone welcome for input thx

well just recently I was in debate between a b16b and b18c1 and everyone I talked to came up with either the b18c1(for not a lot of starting cash) or b18c5(the cash to spend and keep it b series) and im in works of my build now I have a 2000 dx coupe in progress getting a b18c5 with lsd trans with dc sport catback, short throw shifter, skunk2 ultra series intake manifold, with 74mm pro series throttle body, whale dick cai, hondata s300, grams 550cc fuel injectors this is all gonna be in my ride by the end of February boost to follow later but im estimating to have close to or a little more than 250hp after tuned

yea im not to sure about my build I gotta piece mine together but I need advice on the best parts like (cams rods pistons intake manifold ect with eco conversion and tune wit a decent sized turbo that spools kinda quick I thought about building my d series but idk if its worth itor not but my goal is a RELIABLE daily driver @ say 300-350hp ive been told to build the d series bc of it potential in tourqe for bein a single cam but its easyer to get more power out of a b series idk guys I nice mod list with that power would be great and a big question? could I see 350hp outta myd16y8 and it be reliable I would prolly bore and sleeve but don't know to what but I don't wanna waste my money..

I thimk I will go with my d series and properly build it slowly bc I don't want mass power gains from it I would like to hit 325+ but I think its possible with mild cam and camshaft retainers springs intake manifold ecu upgrade chipped and tuned eagle pistons wiseco pistons maybe block guard? stainless oil pan 255 walboro fuel pump bigger injectors air intake bigger throttle body should I switch my trans for a betterone? stage 2 clutch maybe megapower rr skunk2 exaust.im prolly forgetting things boost of course need opinions I want something to where I hit full boost about 6500 rpms? need opinions plz

if your gonna do your d series its gonna be a lot of work and money to get 350hp out of it you might have a little more torque but is it really worth that extra money you could do a b series and be way cheaper
to get 350hp
d series needs has like 120hp stock

good intake manifold

and decent size turbo 15lbs of boost
3" exhaust
should be close to 350hp

b series(like a gsr) needs has like 180hp stock
b18c1
hondata s300
intake manifold
74mm throttle body
3" exhaust
turbo 10lbs boost
stage 1 tuner cams
cam gears
should be very close to 350hp

a lot more aftermarket for the d series means more money and if things start breaking then it all becomes a waste

but hey if you do the d series send me some progress and ill show u my progress with the b18c5 im putting in mine
