Re: Please Help, On This Engine

If you can see it in person the model is stamped on the block where the trans meets the engine, d16y7 non vtec block, d16y8 vtec block. Some ppl put the d16y8 head on the d16y7 block for what is called a minime swap. Gives about 135 hpish with that combo problem is that unless the bottom end is built up a bit they tend to be hard on the bottom end due to the higher compression sometimes to catastrophic results (breaking the bottom end). I have the d16y8 head sittin in my garage in very good shape but opted to not so the swap for this reason.

it is stamped right on the block where the transmission meets the engine, its not hard to see and its pretty clear.

I have a d16y7 and would like to do a few mods (i know there aren't many) and right now i have an injen short ram and a pacesetters catback exhaust. That is 'bout all i can do to keep in california legel however, i will be heading to arizona in few months. i noticed on one of the relpies mentioned switching the head to a y8 head....however you need to build up the bottom end....well.....what do you mean by bottom end?

Bottom end being the Crank, rods & Pistons (W/ rings)... heavier duty to handle the higher compression. Now specifically what type to use... that I don't know.

Re: Please Help, On This Engine

Unless the '99 was a swap it isn't a ZC. They didn't make ZCs in '99.

Engine code is in the same place on every engine:
