need help with suspension setup

hey guys, im new to the forum. i got a '00 civic dx 2dr and im plannin on dropping it this summer. i got a set of 17x9 5 zigens for it and im running 205/40/17 tires on them. i know 17 are a bit too big for a civic but i wanna try to make it work. what kind of lowering springs should i get? or cheap coils? has anyone dropped the exact same car? rolling fenders needed? thanks

Rolling fenders depends on how low you drop it. The options to springs also depends on what you wish to gain.. What is the look are you going for? slammed, no fingergap? Budget an issue?

Also check out this... and if this doesnt help try and search the forum..tons of threads about lowering your car.

Re: need help with suspension setup

i was thinking like maybe 2 inches dont know if i will rub tho. i want little gap. i know its gonna behard to bring it and make it look low with 17s but lip kit should help me out a bit. i know theres a lot of topics about dropping civics but are all civics the same? i mean lets say would 94 hatch with stock suspension be sitting at about the same height as my 00 coupe? or when i look on the forum should i just pay attention to 6 gens coupe? thanks man

I would focus on the 6th gen since that is what you have.. A 2 in drop could be done with springs, but will most likely require you to get a camber kit to avoid your tires "bending". i know a 94 can have 17's and a two inch drop but it maxes out the camber..

yeah im gonna be cutting it close, prolly gonna go with like 1.75 drop. get springs or coilover if i get my hands on cheap ones? and do honda come with like the manual "camber" thing where you can just tilt the rotor a little?

Re: need help with suspension setup

All cars have the ability to adjust them a little, but if you drop the car to low it will not be enough, and to much neg camber is why you see this alot

springs or coilovers is more up to you and how much money you got.. coilovers cost more. Cheapest springs run lik 120-200 dollars(if you run stock shock and struts) and coilovers are usually 500plus might be some cheaper but IDK atm..

Re: need help with suspension setup

yeah well ive done enough research to know that 1.7 or whatever theyare for my car eibach sportlines will get me close to the fender. i should clear it if i dont ill roll the fenders or just tilt the rotors a bit. how much camber adjustment you think i could get with that? im running 40% tires so i dont wanna ruin them with too much camber and have to change them every season lol
