Keyless Entry Problem
i just bought a 98 civic and the keyless entry is not programmed to the car. having problems reprogramming! is there anyway to program it with a aftermarket head unit or do I absolutely need the stock am/fm head unit?

Re: Keyless Entry Problem
The way I understood it:
The keyless receiver was just cradled in the body of the radio. It could have been removed from the radio, and could still be attached to the wiring and just shoved down the dash anywhere behind the aftermarket radio. It would be attached to a green 16 terminal connector if it is still in there.
Might be worth a look, and there are more components and wiring involved in the power locks that could be at fault too.

Re: Keyless Entry Problem
Sorry man....
Checked some more:
Ignore what I said. I'm wrong here.
The keyless appears to be integrated inside the radio, and the security unit is the part that was cradled in the top of the radio.
These were a bit before my time at the dealer, I haven't really had to deal with them so I was going on someone else's input. My bad, sorry.
Wait up...Your remote already works?
If it works, why do you need programming?
If it works, then the orig. radio has to be in there somewhere, or someone cobbled something else up to work.

You need an original radio if it wasn't shoved down into the dash or relocated elsewhere.

But you just said your remote already works?
Maybe someone else has better info for you.

Re: Keyless Entry Problem
what he said, for some reason 96-98 civics had the keyless and dome light circuit inside the oem radio. they make adapters that keep the factory radio so you can stuff it in the dash and still use aftermarket without losing the keyless.
