I noticed drain a lot of coolant after I drive it, so I have to fill it up after, but everything is full and rad fan only comes on after it starts to overheat

Re: Engine smoking

Did you bleed the air out of the coolant properly?

How soon from cold start does it overheat? Is the thermostat working correctly? Any water/coolant leaking near or under the water-pump?
From cold start open the radiator cap and allow the engine to warm up to operating temp while periodically visually checking the coolant inside the radiator. The coolant in the radiator should be flowing swiftly in one direction at operating temp and if not the water-pump could be the issue. Also, check the heater hose under the distributor.. oil leaking from the distributor's o-ring leaks can deteriorate the heater hose at that location and cause coolant leaks.

Please tell us that before you replaced the head gasket you did not try a bottle of head gasket sealer.

haha no I didn't use a bottle of that crap. And everything seems to be working fine. The engine isn't overheating anymore and I just got the cel for a knock which I ordered. The only problem is I'm losing A LOT of coolant. I would fill it up and after done driving it would drain completely. But I'll do what you said and I'll let you know

Typically after a coolant drain and refill after bleeding air out it's recommended to fill coolant reservoir to the top, let it sit overnight and check again in the morning, in which the coolant level should drop to a point between the min and max level. However, if you keep losing coolant something is obviously wrong.

You say it's draining completely.. by that do you mean the reservoir, the radiator, or more? You either have a leak, which if it's losing that much should be easy to find, or another head gasket leak.. most likely in between cylinders or leaking on to exhaust manifold and burning off before you can locate it.

Do a coolant system pressure test when the engine is completely cold and rule out a leak. Coolant doesn't just dissapear it's either leaking or burningg off. Any white smoke from exhaust on start-up? Have someone start your engine on cold-start while you watch exhaust fumes from tail pipe. You'll probably miss it if you are looking for it in your rear view mirrors and starting the engine yourself. Cars can seem to run fine even though there's a head gasket breach... it's just depends on where the breach is located.

Sooooo it overheats after it loses coolant

I also noticed that I have a tear in the heater hose. I get the part next week. Any tips?
Don't drive with leaking coolant, you're gonna trash your hard work if it hasn't already happened

and rad fan only comes on after it starts to overheat
Test accuracy of the fan switch
Test accuracy of temp gauge

It drains completely from the reservoir after a days drive. I noticed this morning there was small puddle underneath my car and trail of liquid on the road. I thought it was the A/C but that's too much water. It's probably the coolant. I didnt have time to check it cause I had work. I think it was leaking where the cat connects to the headers, right above it. And when I start the car in the mornings there's no white smoke from the exhaust (not anymore)

Tip: get it sooner, as in before the next time you drive it.

How do you think it started overheating in the first place? Because the part you have neglected to replace so far caused a low coolant issue resulting in overheating. When the engine is at operating temp your coolant system is under pressure and coolant is subsequently going to be forced out of any tears.
