not sure if it's the right place to post.but i'm in search of a cylinder head for a 2002 honda civic ex

Why? Machine shop can fix a head if it's not too thin.

the head need to be rebuilt.the valves are bent and leaking.just didn't know if it would be a little less to order one on eBay and just have it resurfaced

I thought your engine was overheated. Is it warped beyond repair?
Now you've got bent valves too?


If you got a head elsewhere, you can leak check the valves on the workbench using liquid, and you can have it checked for flatness at a machine shop..... or many (certainly not all) mechanics have their own precision straightedge just for checking this kind of work. I know I do.
If it measures flat and in spec there's no point in resurfacing.

I dropped the head off at the machine shop Friday.He calls me today saying the valves are bent and leaking real bad.He asked if the timing belt broke.It didn't break and no teeth are missing. The head is warped but it will cost me five hundred and eighty dollars with parts and labor.

Ouch.
Was it still correctly timed when you took it apart?
Did you rotate cam or crank after removing the timing belt?
