Need advice

Have a 2000 civic with a 1.6 vtec. Motor will crank...no fire. Made sure coil and distributor were good and still no fire. Am thinking crank position sensor next. Am lost and need help. Been reading threads and believe this may be the issue.

Car was running and just shut off. Will crank but not fire. ANYBODY?

Got compression?
Got spark?
Got fuel?

Did it jump time?

Re: Need advice

no fire
You mean no spark?

How did you test the coil and distributor?

Is the coil any good? That's usually the first thing to quit.
Easy test, pull cap and rotor off to expose the coil, crank the engine. Got spark? (I assume no)
Then connect a dwellmeter to the primary negative side of the coil and crank it. Got a dwell reading?
If there is dwell but no spark, the coil is bad.
If there is no dwell, then keep troubleshooting.

The sensor in the front of the crank is used for misfire detection (CKF). I'm pretty sure it will run without it.
The CKP is in the distributor.
