Cannot find seal for engine
Cannot find seal for engine
I have a 98 honda civic lx but does not have the original engine. Number on the engine is D16Y7 and 2623059. Can these numbers give additional info about the engine? The rear main seal gasket set did not fit the flange from the engine. The seal I got for that vehicle from the auto store slid in with my fingers and the flange is to wide for the paper gaskets. They had no other options or info when I returned the set. Maybe the engine in there did not come out of a civic.

98 LX? You have the right engine according to Wiki. Might be from a different year or something?
Try a dealer seals or a different parts store/brand?

Re: Cannot find seal for engine
I plugged in 98 civic and got this part number
91214-PLE-003 OIL SEAL (80X100X10) (NOK)
$18.50 list, or $12.95 plus shipping from Majestic.

I went from 1985 up to 2005, all seem to use the same part number in my catalog.
I think your parts store parts is wrong.
