Idle Issues Wont Go Away
Idle Issues Wont Go Away
My car is a 97 civic 5 spd with D16A w/ Y8 intake. CEL p0505 for the last three months and only thing that was done during D16 install was crank sensor was jumped at ecu. The idle is getting worse everyday and ive got nobody with my issues. Car idles around 1K and will vary slighty while sitting still. Ive unplugged the iacv & no rpm drop but rpm goes up to 1500 when plugged back in. Idle up between 1600-2000 motor will rev up/down & rock back/forwards. New iacv, tps checks out, coolant system bleed, & throttle body cleaned. New pcv & if you cover the throttle body with your hand the car will die. What should i do now? Re: Idle Issues Wont Go Away
have you tried placing you hand over the air intake when running to see if it dies? you may have a leak in the intake somewhere if it doesn't die.
you may also want to do an idle relearn. search for it if you don't know how to in this forum.

And I am an idiot because I reread your first post and saw you did that... sorry. No leak so that is good. I think all you have to do is the idle relearn now since you replaced the IACV.
Re: Idle Issues Wont Go Away
Ive done a relearn 3 times from the info ive got from the forum but the problem comes back after a day or two. Im really bummed at this point after sinking so much money in the jdm motor & the car getting worse now.
Re: Idle Issues Wont Go Away
Oddly enough i replaced my fuel filter because my hayne manual suggests it should be changed every 30K and i don't know if it has ever been replaced. And my car no longer surges.. i still have slightly high RPMs occasionally, but my car starts everytime now.
i think i got the cheap one from death zone for $20 and it took only 20 minutes maybe to swap. also of note... i shook the gas out of the old filter and it came out dark drown.
glad it was at least cleaning the gas i guess.
