Rep Power: 0 98 Civic MAP CEL Issue Sputter/drag
1998 Honda Civic EX
CEL popped on today P0108. Map high input.
First off, acceleration is terrible now. Once I reach a cruising speed, I can feel a random interval of sputtering like a 60mph gust of wind just hit the front of my car for about half a second then the car continues to normal pace, rinse repeat. Almost like it is misfiring or not getting enough gas to it. Idle is also very rough at low speeds.
Searched the internet and nobody had any solution to this problem. Why?
It seems like it is a common problem, yet I can find no answers...
Please help me out, this is the only car I have to and from work. I checked all fuses, wires, etc. Everything is in good order and from what I have read, replacing the MAP won't solve the issue.
Also, should I refrain from driving it? I don't want it to blow up on me.

Search for MelJ and download the service manual from his sig. You'll need a diagnostic tool with data feed to monitor the MAP sensor.
Probable causes are:
1. open in the MAP circuit
2. bad MAP sensor
3. bad ECM/PCM
