IT WONT GO INTO REVERSE:
1-5 goes in fine reverse goes in half way, i tried jamming it but nothing................


i even changed the shift linkage................. im going crazy

Try shifting into any forward gear first, then go into reverse.

Just because it worked fine prior to clutch change does not mean that its not malfunctioning now, if it shifts fine into all 5 gears except reverse then its most likely internal in the trans. Sometimes removing and jostling the trans can make a problem that was on the verge of happening show up, I had that happen when I swapped a clutch on an older cavalier. It may be an alignment issue with the arm but I doubt it.

alright so i dropped tha tranny and shift it by hand ....it works but y didnt it work when it was on

Improper torque specs on the linkage, shift linkage alignment, worn bushings in the shift linkage, bent shift linkage could be lots of reasons.

i had this same problem today. It wouldnt shift into reverse. I pushed the car backwards a foot and then it shifted fine. hasent done it since.
