Anyone have a DIY for headunit install...

I couldnt find it in the DIY section... and i did search but the links didnt work on some posts.

Oh yea.. anyone know how to take the headunit out without taking the whole console out? I heard that if you already have an aftermarket HU you dont have to take the console out.

if you have a headunit that was just mounted in the cage and not ISO mounted, then you can just slide the headunit out of the cage with the little keys that came with you headunit. otherwise you need to remove the whole radio/ac pod to remove the headunit if you ISO mounted it

Angry Help removing head unit

I can't seem to get my head unit out. I looked at the diy that describes how to do it, but I can't seem to get the plastic peace that surrounds the head unit and ac. It almost seems as if it is screwed on some how; right above the flasher buttion. I have tried pulling on it but it just does not want to come out. Is it possible that it is screwed in or do I need to pull harder. Acording to the Diy it is connected by five clips. Any thoughts?

MRB068-- Are you trying to pull out your Factory head unit or a after market one? you shoudlnt have to pull out the AC console if your removing the factory one and I don't think you should have to pull it off to remove an after market one either.. my after market cd player just slides in and out.

How to remove head unit

I followed these directions. At the part that directs you to push from the inside, the first time you remove it you have to push kinda hard after the first time it gets easier.

when you pull out the center console behind the radio there should be two 9/16" nuts. Undo those and then push the back of the radio and pull the front. BE CAREFUL when pulling on the front. You need to pull and push pretty hard the shourd itself is held in by clips. Let me know if it works or not.

I just did mine a couple of weekends ago. You need to be careful of the clips that hold the radio/ac/vent assembly to the dash. I lost 2 and had to swipe them from the cigarette lighter piece.
