need money, how does this sound?...
okay guys, i want to do some more upgrades for my system, but funds are low. i want to get the Diamond Audio HEX S6.0mx3 Midbass addon to compliment my HEX S600s comps, and a pair of kick panels from q logic ( the HEX comps will go in there, and the midbass addon will go in the doors ).
here is my idea ( got in from a friend ), i get rid of some of my ICE and downgrade a little. i was thinking of getting rid of my rear M361i coaxial and my 600.4 4 channel, and get a 300.2 2 channel instead. the shop that i bought all my stuff from said they can give me credit for the speakers and amp, $125 for the speakers, $400 for the amp. the 300.2 will then cost $325, leaving me $200. its $150 for the q logic kicks, so now i'm left with $50. it will be 2 hundred something for the midbass addon. $200 or so will be easier for me to handle, rather than trying to come up with $400 some odd for the midbass's and kicks.
how does that sound?

thanks for the replies. i've been out of town, drove to kansas to see my sister. anyways, during the drive ( 3 1/2 hours each way ) i realized how much i DONT need rear speakers. i emailed diamond about power issues if i add the midbass's to the HEX's. as far as i know, the addon midbass's will share the power that is already going to the HEX's, so thats 75 watts. that doesn't seem like a lot to me, i mean, powering a 1" tweet, and two 6.5" midbass's with just 75watts?
so i will need for the speakers to run at 2 ohms, cause my amp makes 150 watts at 2 ohms, or i get rid of the rear speakers, and bridge the 4 channel. the 4 channel can run at 300 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms bridged. question is, does that sound like overkill?
this is confusing me, please help.

you had best go WAY easy on those gains, ive got 350 rms going ot each one of my midranges, and its really easy (and tempting!) yo up the gasin till you have total speaker failure.
itll work..... be careful
id also put an l-pad on those tweeters to protect them! there aint no tweeter on teh market that I know abotu that can take 300 rms for music

thats what i was worried about, overpowering the speakers. i wish diamond would hurry up and respond to my email. i'm pretty sure that the comps, after adding the midbass addon, will still accept just a 4 ohm load, meaning, 75 watts from my 600.4 unbridged, or the 300 watts bridged.
what should i do?
i want to stick with diamond audio stuff because, well, i got all diamond audio gear, but i dont want a D7 amp, they are really expensive. i wish diamond had a D5 amp that did 150 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms.

slick, maybe you cna better explain how the set works, with the midbass adon and everything. new crossovers? jsut the addition of a speaker? how does it work, exactly?
and feel free to give me every juicy technical detail

ok, the way it works is that it has its own crossover. you connect the amp to the crossover from the the addon kit, then connect the midbass to the addon kit xover, then connect the midbass addon xover to the HEX comp xover, and then connect the HEX midbass and tweeter to the HEX comp xover. make sense?
i also just found out that with the midbass addon, the entire system will still kepp the 4 ohm impedance.
but here is another thing i found out, the 600.4 4 channel amp i have is not rated at 300 watts x 2 @ 4 ohms when bridged, but rather 150 x 2 @ 4 ohms when bridged, and 300 x 2 @ 2 ohms bridged. so if i get rid of the rear speakers, and bridge the amp, my HEX comps will get 150 watts each, which is a great amount of power for these speakers, and i wont have to worry about the overkill of power.
here is the dillema, the shop will give me an even trade on the rear speakers for a set of q forms, but the midbass addon costs $350. you think that the midbass for my HEX comps will sound more pronounced if placed in the q forms with 150watts on each side? i am hoping that the midbass will be good enough so i wont need to buy the addon kit, cause $350 is a bit much.
