custom it...... u can try to get sum wood panels and cut and screw the 6.5 on... and
drill them into ur door.... but than thats a little to much work and risky in my sense....

So sell them... and buy the right size

get a piece of MDF, or particle board, anything really. doesnt need to be too thick, but thcik enough to mount the speaekr solidly. grab a drill and drill a hole in teh door, the size of yrou bolts. its not difficult at all, make sur eyour window is up

id put like 2-3 screws into the wood, make it solid. of course i already drilled a 6.5 inch hole to mount the speaker into. the outer shpae doesnt matter, as long as the door panel fits back on. then you can screw yoru speaker to that wood, ight hace to drill throuh the door again, for those screws

but seriously, if you are affraid of drilling into yoru door, go to tru value and buy a sheet of thin thin sheet metal and try drillign a couple holes in it. any hardedned bit will work, drilling is easier with oil or any sort of lubricant, even spit will work, but its not totally neccesary, blah, blah, blah.

mostly its jsut common sense! you could stick a 10" woofer on that door spot, its jsut a matter of getting around the small details liek that.

this is what separates the creative DIY'ers from those who are scared to install their own intake. its the common sense, the creativity, and the ***** to just jump in and get yrou hands dirty!

type R's will fit, id bet anything. its jsut a matter of figuring out how! you dont need to sacrifice sound cause your affraid to do some MODIFICATION, its a civic! modification is yrou car's middle name!

good luck

My Quarts are a 7" speaker and they fit with 1" spacers....the door panel does stick out about 1/4 - 1/8 of an inch off the door.....no biggie though, you dont even notice after a while. You can always trip the door with a dremel or tin snips....once it warms up, thats what i'll be doing.

I've got XR components in the front, and those things are beheamoth. My doorpanel lies flush because I used a dremmel tool to get rid of that stupid plasic ring on the inside of the panel around the speaker grill. You, too, can do that.

rip off the plastic ring on the door panel like everyone is saying and that will help. dremel would work, but i just grabbed onto it with pliers and ripped it off, it was a breeze, and it gives you another 1/2 inch or so of room.

I fit type R 's in the door and they sound great!
The thing is you will have to shave/cut a little bit of the door metal to make them fit , and I also used a 3/4'' MDF spacer.
Can be done!
Well worth the time!
