Alternator question
Hey guys....I'm gonna be getting a new alternator, and I had some quick questions....I read LudiamTheory's post, and I wanted to know the difference between a cold rating and a hot rating, and what the differences are between internally and externally regulated. Also, out of the following list, which would be the most reliable/best choice? I am thinking #2. Also, if you read this Ludiam, where can I get that alternator?
1 - mralternator.com - 140 amp cold rating (so like 120), internally regulated, lifetime warranty - $245
2 - Dominick Iraggi - 170 amp hot rated, internally regulated (external is $125 extra), 1 year warranty - $379
3 - Ohio Generators - 160 amp hot rated, dont know bout regulation ask mohawkboom, 1 year warranty i think - $616
Thanks guys,
Mystic

ok
cold and hot rating : when teh alternator is cold (just started it) it produces more power than when the alternator has been running and is hot....
internally and extrenally regulated: the regulator is inside the alternator or outside... outside usually lasts longer because it doesnt get as hot.
I personally would get the mralternator.com one... lifetime warranty beats all... and thats more power than youll ever need.... for the price of the iraggi one, you could get the mralternator one and a deep cycle battery....
