amp power connection

ive had my system hooked up for a while, i have a 600 watt amp powering my subs, and i used 4 guage wire, i have a kenwood amp and both the + and the - power terminals are right next to each other, and the slots for them are really small, i dont know why, the fork like connectors that go on the end of the wires dont even fit in the terminals, so until now i have been grinding the edges down so that they would fit, but if the subs move a little bit the forks break! so theres gotta be another way of doing this! help me ? how and where can i get the stuff?

you dont need the forks... you can just stuff a small end of the wire under the 2 little plates that clamp down on each other, it'll be perfectly secure.... before i cared for appearance, i had it like that for some time

You can do that but then you take the chance of a strand of wire reaching over and touching the opposing terminal.

Best resolution IMO - get a distribution block and a foot or so of 8 guage wire. Run the 4-guage to the d-block (I have mine mounted right next to the amp) then run an 8 guage wire(s) out the other side to your amp(s). I can take a pic tomorrow if you'd like for more clarity..

EDIT: You could get a gold plated d-block for less than 10 bucks, and a couple feet of 8 gauge for like $0.50, and some more 8-guage spades for a few bucks. ~$15 bucks and you'll never have to worry about it again. Plus, you'll have very nice, clean, and secure connections.

Something else that you can try is mounting the amp on the sub box itself, that way you don't have to worry about the box moving and breaking connectors.

Then are you still having problems with the spades breaking?

They don't fit because they are made to except 8-guage wire not 4. Check out my link in the sig and there is a pic of my amp and d-block.

Get an 8 gauge spade, trim the end of the power wire so that you can get as much wire as possible into the spade, crimp it and you should be good to go!

I would start be securing the box in the trunk so it doesnt move also. It sounds like you dont have much excess wire back there. Might wanna consider the d-block also to give yourself some extra slack.
