another easy capacitor question
im lookin to put a capacitor in my car and have a couple ?s. ok, first, im just running a 250/1 jl right now, but later ill be running a 500/1, 300/2, and 300/4. now the ?s
1. will a 1.0 farad cap(in preparation for the bigger system) be excessive and a waste for now with only a 250/1 pullin from it, or should i get a .5 farad for now, and then get a 1.0 farad cap, and use both later?
2. when you wire one cap, does it get wired like this?:
power)-----(+cap-)-----(+amp-)-----(sub)
meaning in series? or in parallel?

wire in parrallel.
and 1.5 farads of capacitance will make more of a difference, if any, than 1 farad, but is also almost twice as expensive.
decision is up to you entirely.
but its literally impossible to have overkill on capacitance. (unless you get stupid )

ok, now im jsut wondering about how fast the system, current and future, will discharge them, also, when discharged, how long does it take to recharge them. i asked someone at tweeter, but i want to hear some other peoples answers.
thanks, btw.
thanks, btw.
duty cycle is faster than takes for a man to climax after having no relations for 4 years.
when the first bass note hits (ideally) the cap discharges completely and recharges ready for the next bass note in the song (again, ideally)

I would personally get all your other stuff first.
when you have the ENTIRE system done, see how bad yoru dimming problem is. THEN consider investing in a cap. or two. or three.
Also Two 1 Farad caps wired in Paralell have a lower ESR than a 1.5 Farad cap..and would cost about the same...
I use One 1 Farad cap merely to keep voltage as stable as possible for best sound quality. But I lose 1.3DB's at full power because of the added resistance
