LED lighting that goes off with dome light
LED lighting that goes off with dome light
I just can't figure it out. I am using an expandable fuse for the interior light fuse in the engine compartment. I can get the LED underdash lighting to work, and get the dome light to work, but what I can't figure out is how to get the underdash lighting to fade along with the dome light. Anybody offer some advice?
Re: LED lighting that goes off with dome light
it stays on all the time, even when the dome light fades out. I wanted it to only come on with the done light but can't figure out how to get that to happen....
Re: LED lighting that goes off with dome light
i would guess the fuse probably runs to some kind relay and then that controls the dimming of the lights. You'll probably have to splice it in somewhere under the dash that way it can be controlled by the relay.
from looking at "interior lighting systems - 2005 and earlier" diagram it looks like you should be looking for a white/blue wire and a green/red wire. it looks like the white/blue is feeding the system all the time so you probably need to wire into the green/red and a ground wire somewhere. I've never messed with it so I would recommend testing them with a multimeter and see what the voltage is across the wire when the door is open and when it's not.

looks like the green/red is ground and white/blue is your 12v.

Re: LED lighting that goes off with dome light
Was lucky with my 05 and the wiring was in place for key cylinder light under column covers, so I used those.
01 may not have that in place ??
I always keep them as a pair +12V constant, and the control (grounding)line.

I have a Civic 2005 Ex special edition. Do you have any picture? I want to do the same thing but I don't know which wire I should use.
Thanks

Re: LED lighting that goes off with dome light
Under the column covers, 6 pin connector.
Wire colors are WHT/BLU = +12V & WHT/BLK = Control/grounding These are the wires for your lighted cylinder on your EX (act the same as dome)
Keep them as a pair to drive leds or bulbs.

Sorry for the dumb question, what is the column cover and where is it?

Re: LED lighting that goes off with dome light
Column covers (2) for the headlight, wiper & ignition switches.
3-4 screws underneath, and held together at the seams with clips that WILL break.
