12v and 14.4v?

well 12volts is your standard battery (12.8 actually).. your alternator puts out 14.4 volts when it's not underload..in the typical car when it's running your alts putting out 13.6-14 volts.. The amps don't double power at 14.4 volts.. power increases only about 20%..

ahh, cool. So pretty much whenever I have the car running without much load, it's 14.4, just having the key in the ignition
is the 12v. The MTX 6500D gets close to 50% power increase... 500@2 ohms, 12.5v, 775 @ 2 ohms, 14.4v.
I definitely remembered wrong... don't know why I thought the power doubled. On another note, I can check out how much my
amps are putting out by putting a volt meter on the speaker connects and then squaring the voltage, divided by the impedance,
right?
I'm curious to see how much the amp powering my components is putting out.

mtx amps are rated for double power at 14.4 volts. either the 12 volt rating is way too low, or the 14 volt rating is way to high.
