Compound electrical problem, not sure where to start
Compound electrical problem, not sure where to start
Hi, new forum user here. I'll get straight to the problem:
I set out yesterday to change out the factory radio for something nicer. Everything was going smoothly, I had the "something nicer" radio hooked up with a wiring kit, and was doing a functions test when I hear an electrical pop from the dash area, and the radio went dead. I'm 99% certain it wasn't the new radio. I reinstalled the stock radio and it's nonfunctional as well, as well as my keyless entry system and power locks. The power locks only work when the car is running, but the keyless entry doesn't work period. I can reprogram the keyless entry i.e. get positive feedback from it while programming, but it nevertheless will not lock/unlock. I have replaced the #8 and #9 fuses.
Thanks for any help, fellas, I appreciate it.

I have a 2003 coupe. I replaced the fuse, everything seems to be in working order now. You, sir, are a scholar and a gentlemen and I am an idiot lol

Next time disconnect the negative (-) black wire from the battery. It will cause things not to short out if they are touched together.
