New head unit no music??

So I have just recently installed a new head unit so I can plug in an aux cable and listen to my iPhone when I feel like it. Ok so its not a new head unit, it was from a buddy of mines. So before the install, my radio worked fine and his worked fine (with the head unit in).....transfer the head unit to my car and radio DOESNT WORK!!!! Its not picking up a signal because when you press the seek button the stations just keep going and going and going.

ANY SUGGESTIONS??? What went wrong??

Kind of sucks having to ALWAYS plug in an iphone or play a cd.

I remember seeing a blue wire from the radio harness labeled "power antenna", where does that plug into? probably the solution to my problem.

nope thats for if you have a car with an antenna that pops out retracts when you turn your car on and off. we dont have those though so you just leave that wire disconnected.

i wasn't talking about a motorized antenna. i'm well aware that the antenna is embedded in the rear glass. coupes have an antenna amplifier in the rear pillar. sedans do not. coupes need to have the blue aftermarket amp power wire connected to the stock antenna power harness for the amp, and thus the radio reception, to work.

Re: New head unit no music??

just search "coupe antenna" in the 7th gen section and you'll see this has been covered many, many times.

EDIT: just found this thread. looks like this is when I found out about it 5 years ago:

has wiring diagrams too.

Thanks!!

Ok so from the look of things I have to plug that power antenna wire that I saw on my HU to a yellow/green wire; so after my 8 papers I have to write I'll go check inside to see if I can find that yellow/green wire and connect the two. I'm getting a little confused because there is a lot of talk about the "C-Pillar"? I'm not good with this electrical stuff I just thought all I had to do was match the wires from my HU to the wires on the harness I bought that connects the HU to the car. ughhhh lol if I remember correctly I thought I connected all the wires together, the only ones left over were from the HU. I'll have to go check.....
