2005 Special edition, HU dim
2005 Special edition, HU dim
Hey guys,
I've read the threads and stickies on how to mount the HU so it's less affected by the sun. Unfortunately, I can't use the same dash kit that is recommended, because I have a 2005 special edition (different fit). I see metra makes a universal kit 99-9999. Any ideas if that will work or does anyone have other suggestions? I have the JVC AHD69 and from straight on the lights are bright, but since it's installed at an angle, it is very dim, even when it's dark outside.
Thanks

Re: 2005 Special edition, HU dim
Ok, crutchfield got the new dash kit out to me. It's the Metra 99-7893. it's pretty much square, so I flipped it upside down so the pocket is on the top. This allowed me to mount it a little lower for better visibility and it's much easier to read now! I'm not a big fan of the pocket though. I have average sized hands, and I can't reach the back 2" of the pocket because it's so narrow. I'll probably stuff something in the back so nothing ever becomes out of reach. I also had to dremel just a small amount of plastic off the back of the kit so it would sit flush with the HVAC panel.
