Re: Nothing but static
make sure the antenna plug is connected, and also the power antenna wire. do you have coupe or sedan? or hybrid?

Re: Nothing but static
I have a 2001 EX Coupe The antennae into the back of the player is plugged in. There is a blue wire that says Antennae boost or Fm Ant on it that has no home in the wiring harness could this solve my issue or should i look into the antennae module and resistor in the trunk?
Re: Nothing but static
The blue wire is the antenna booster. It will help but I don't think that's your problem. Definitely take it back apart and hook it up. Even without the booster hooked up you should get some reception. I find my window antenna works pretty good. I wonder what it could be hmm.

Re: Nothing but static
you need to hook that antenna wire up. i can check the wire color for you later today in the honda book. when i had mine disconnected, i had no fm reception at all. with it hooked up, fm sounds like cd quality.

Re: Nothing but static
thank you everyone for your help...turns out after tearing the whole rear deck apart i found the antennae amplifier was not plugged in it looks like the previous owner jimmy rigged a wire around it and taped it so i took it apart and put it back together properly and now i have crystal clear radio!!!!! thanks again everyone
Re: Nothing but static
is this the same on the LX sedan? I installed a pioneer deck using a honda wire harness adapter, but I don't know if that wire is even there. I have decent reception but i get way better reception in my other vehicle. i did get the windows tinted (non metellic) and i don't think it changed much. if it's not a wiring issue is there any thing else I can do to get better reception?

Re: Nothing but static
it has to be that wire. i can check and see if its the same for coupe and sedan. on my ex sedan, i hooked up the wire and my fm sounds like a cd. very clear and crisp, and i have window tint too (cell phones and compass dont work well in the car, but radio is okay).

Re: Nothing but static
i just found it from an old post. you want to hook up the power antenna wire from the aftermarket deck to the oem honda yellow/green wire (thats a yellow wire with green stripe). look for it in the honda connector harness, not the aftermarket harness.
Re: Nothing but static
thanks Gearbox, will do
