2002 civic ex sedan radio problem
2002 civic ex sedan radio problem
Last few days when I leave work my FM stations are all static. I check the cubby underneath and the bottom of the radio is scorching hot. The past few days have been hot. It comes back after I run the ac a bit to cool off the radio. Never did this until I brought my car in for airbag recall. Any thoughts? AM and cd work fine.
Re: 2002 civic ex sedan radio problem
my guess is it's coincidence and your radio is old and can't handle the heat. Kids and animals die in a hot car, so do electronics. My phone gets a heat warning and turns off if I leave it on the dash for navigation.
Where do you live? I'd try parking in the shade, leave the windows cracked, or get a window shade. Or all of the above.

I guess there could be interference cause I'm sure there's a lot of radio signals bouncing around there. But I doubt any of them are on FM frequencies as you could tune to that frequency and hear air traffic control.
