retrofit issue

Ok i have a 02 Civic and i did a retrofit setup in my headlights with g35 projectors and bmw ballasts. Now my issue i have is i had made a wiring and it worked great but every once in while the right side headlight wouldn't turn on so i had to flick the switch on of couple times to get it to work. So what i have decided to do is re do the wiring and i found this diagram on here.

This works great for lo beam. But for high beam it will not work.

i got the projectors like this and the 2 wire plug is what controls the hi beam. What triggers it is positive and a negative. So what i did is ground the one side and hook the other to the hi beam but no luck. Also tried it with low beam.

So the positive of solenoid should go with 12 v constant (yellow/red) same wire as to number 86? and the negative to hi (red blue wire)

Re: retrofit issue

yeah but you can switch them around, solenoids usually dont care which way you wire it. if it wont work one way, switch the wires.

Re: retrofit issue

85 and 86 don't matter on a standard relay. i'd recommend buying one that has a suppression diode in there so you don't blow up any electronics like i did. the relays are only ~$4.50 each. then the polarity matters. i think 85 is +.

Re: retrofit issue

the 6th gen civics headlights might be different then ours.

on our 7th gens, the +12v is alway on (constant) and the high/low beam is regulated by turning on/off the high/low GROUND connection.

im not sure but i remember reading the 6th gen civics being traditional H4's. meaning that the Ground is constand, and the hi/low is controlled by the +12v of the high or low turning on/off

here is a link to my harness i drew up from wt ive found
