TYC Retrofit with TSX-R D2S projectors

I have an 01 LX 2dr with TYC's soon to be HID TSX

So i just bought the following
-Ebay 50 watt Hid Ballast-92 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=
-TSX-R HID D2S Projectors-83 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...3AIT&viewitem=

the Hid Kit is 6000K D2S so it should fit in to the TYC housing with a minor amount of fabracation. However i have search and read and read but i still have a couple grey areas questions.

1. What is this ground switched relay? How do i know if i have one?
2. Best way to "pre-aim" projectors before sealing up the housing?

Re: TYC Retrofit with TSX-R D2S projectors

TSX-R projectors dont exist. that auction is for LENSES only. the only replica projector they make is the FX-R which is great for retrofit since it has mounting holes already. but the problem is tsx is very wide and you will have trouble fitting it into tycs. usually the only projectors that fit in those are e46 single xenon bosch projectors. even when i tried valeo singles, i could not aim them cause the bowl was touching the rear housing. so you will need to do alot of cutting in the rear to fit bigger projectors.

1. you need to make a new relay wire harness for hids. pic below.
2. you can install the projector and then put the rear half of the light onto the car when its parked on a flat surface 25ft from a wall. then you can turn it on and play with the aiming. lower cutoff should have a 2 inch drop from the height of the headlamp at 25ft. but you really need to have a way of aiming the projector once its installed on the car. weight may change, people might sit in your car, gas tank may go empty or full, everything will affect how the headlights look and may need adjustments later. this is why alot of people use oem reflector housings to mount the projector and use the stock aiming screws.

Re: TYC Retrofit with TSX-R D2S projectors

i personally have TSX in TYC housings and it's not easy to do. check my sig for a link. the end result can be very nice as i'm happy with mine now, but for a long time, i wasn't. you'll have to completely customize the mounting, and that will affect the aiming. i used 8-32 screws for adjustment and a 1/8 turn either way made the difference between too high and blinding people, too low and couldn't see anything, and just right.

yep, as gear said, the auction is for the lenses only. and he's dead right on the relay harness. what the ebay link calls "optional" is "MANDATORY" for civics. the stock wiring is not sized to handle the 20+ amps that the ballasts will pull during startup.
