Speedometer Recalibration

So after numerous IC modifications and some slightly-nonstock tires, my speedometer is inaccurate. But it's not a linear difference, it's about 10%. Meaning, when it's indicating 80 mph, I'm going about 72 mph. I know some of you just deal with it, but I don't like guessing how fast I'm going. The difference gets pretty big when you get up in the numbers.

I know it's possible with OBD-II cars. Anyone know the specifics?

Re: Speedometer Recalibration

I imagine you'd need OEM level scan tool to get into that.

Re: Speedometer Recalibration

Its cheaper to buy a TomTom (which tells you how fast you're going) and stick it on your dash than it is to try and have the gauge recalibrated. Rumor has it its many hundred dollars to have it done.

Yeah, I've got a Garmin on my dash that I use when I drive cross-country.

It's just I know for S2K's there's a "yellow box" that you can wire in that costs about $50 thats a hodgepodge of potentiometers and whatnot that lets you calibrate the speedo yourself.

Re: Speedometer Recalibration

If you happen to have it, I'll take it. But I'm researching some other options first. So no rush, is what I'm trying to say.

Re: Speedometer Recalibration

I need to know if the 7th-gen has a hall-type (3-wire) speed sensor. I'm at school, so I really can't go crawl around under the car.

wht/grn is signal
blk/yel is ignition power
blk is ground

There's also a two-wire speed sensor @ each wheel for the ABS system.
