Head Unit Wiring
Hi everybody,
I'm new to the forums, and am also new to owing a civic. The first thing I wan't to do is take my Pioneer head unit out of my old car and put it in my current one, 2004 Civic Sedan. I have two questions regarding the install of the headunit and those would be the following:
1. I looked at the stock head unit removal DIY, and it said it was performed on a coupe. Will this be any different than doing it on the sedan, and if so, could someone point out to me the differences (i've searched so far and did't find anything)
2. For wiring the actual head unit in, is it as easy as matching the color coded wires on the wiring harness and connecting them (either crimping or soldering), or is it more in depth than that?
Thanks

Re: Head Unit Wiring
Great, thanks alot...
One more thing, I'm not sure if this is self explanatory from the wiring harness or not, but the power wire, how will I know if it's going to be a constant power to the HU, or just powered when ignition is on, like what I had in the past?

Re: Head Unit Wiring
When hooking up the headunit, you are (you are.....right?) going to go out and buy an adapter instead of cutting up the factory wiring and when you're soldering it to the adapter that came with the headunit, it's going to look like so:

notice I hooked the red wire which says, "IGNITION / SWITCHED" on the side of it to the blue wire on the adapter which says the same. This will send a signal to the headunit telling it to turn on. Also, for some reason, the power wire on this adapter is white and labeled accordingly so you just solder the two together. Twisting and taping is a TERRIBLE idea, solder them together. Then it's just your ground which should be black to black. Those are your three wires to get power to your headunit, battery, switched and ground.
Then your wires are going to resemble the following, it'll just be adapter to adapter instead of having all those wires.

Plug one end into the headunit and the other end into your factory wiring harness.
