So my car got broken into, and they got everything my subs, amp, CD's, head unit, and tried to take the car but couldn't. Time to wise up, and get a descent alarm... recommendations??

yeah it sucks, alot of time alarm wont help tho. but why leave cds in car? just make copies or most decks have mp3 these days anyway. i have a viper for 5 yrs and still works. somethings better than nothing tho.

if u want the remote start yes your going to need an extra key and chip depending on what year ur car is to bypass it..mm hmm go to a honda dealer ship n check it out..thats what I had to do..a vallet key works fine

I always wanted to mount sensor controlled video cameras under my car to record all angles. I think that would be sick and better then just having an alarm go off, but to have the scene actually recorded.

i know that it won't deter the determined thief, but it will put me a little more at ease knowing that it should scare of some stupid punk kids... plus i can finally have keyless entry!@! as far as insurance, it wasn't worth my deductable (500) seeings as how i only had 1 JBL 15, 1 blown JBL 15 (haha dummies) and a lightning audio amp, so they didn't get much.

best viper now is 5900 it goes for 499 at best buy install included 50$ for bypass and extra key is needed for remote start not available for M/T cars

I've got the 5900 and it's awesome.

Though if you live/work in an area with a lot of buildings/trees, like I do, it's prolly a 1/4 mile effectively.

one thing to consider, in addition to an alarm, is the reason people would want to break into your car. just some proper guidelines, don't leave anything out, try not to park in areas where your car isn't visible from all sides, etc. usually, if someone wants something, they're going to get it no matter what. the one time my car got broken into was the time i left my faceplate on and a few things out because i was only going to be away from it for 15 minutes, and i even parked under a super bright light, in an open area. someone busted my window out anyway, and fortunately i was coming outside right before they could take anything.

i just see a lot of threads about car security. the #1 best thing to have is a garage. alarms and everything else aren't worth anything when a flatbed comes in the middle of the night and loads your car up. sorry about your loss though man, it sucks having things taken from you.
