Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

Every time it rains the damn hood pin sets off the alarm. Anyone else have this problem? Remedies to fix it?

I'm thinking maybe it needs to be placed somewhere else under the hood where it won't get wet.

lol i had so much trouble with that i ripped it out. if theyre gonna be getting the hood open, the shock sensor will have already triggered the alarm anyway.

Go with a tilt or mercury sensor attached to the underside of the hood. Works like a charm.

Re: Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

i dont see how the hood pin will be setting it off a hood pin has plastice parts with a metal tip and once the two metal parts make contact it goes off i have trunk pin and hood pin no problems for me

when it rains my alarm goes off to since i have the shock sensor set all the way up maybe turn your shock sensor down

Re: Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

but really why does it matter, if they somehow get in the car without setting off the shock sensor, just pulling the hood release will set it off for sure, or if they pry the hood open, same thing. its useless to have a hood sensor. i have my shock sensor way down tho too i hate false alarms. even bass and thunder dont set it off but banging the door still does which is all i want.

Re: Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

well its good to have them cause people can get your trunk or hood open without setting of shock sensor if they know what they are doing. its just one more layer of secuirty

Also they're nice for remote start shutdown, not sure if that even applies to the original poster.

Re: Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

yeah my remote start won't work if it's set off. My shock sensor is set really low. I know it's the pin because every time I reconnect it the problem occurs.

Re: Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

probally somehting worng in the pin cause u have a metal clip at bottom with a wire that has a current then plastic shaft then the bolt is metal when the metal contacts each other it triggers alarm so either try new pin or differnt location but water shouldt be affecting it

Re: Compustar alarm hood pin problem...

I have a question about the hood pin as well...if i arm my car and pop my hood the pin doesn't sound the alarm. i don't feel like replacing it and just want to remove it. can i just cut the wire and leave it at that or is there more i have to do for any reason will it draw off the battery at all?
