my front left speaker doesnt work. i bought a pair of oem from a 1.6 el and they were crappier than my civic's.
i just want to know what could be the problem and if it's fixable. i don't see any tears, so it's not blown.. the wires seem to be connected.. what else could be the problem?

Rep Power: 313 Just because it doesn't have any physical damage doesn't mean that the speaker isn't damaged. There are a lot of sensitive parts to a speaker (voice coil, connections,) that could have been easily damaged by the previous owner. Try to avoid purchasing used audio equipment! Aftermarket is the way to go!

Rep Power: 0 my first post might be misleading.. but i am trying to fix my oem civic speakers.. that is the reason why i bought used oem 1.6 el speakers.. but then i found out they were crappier than my civic's , so i just want to fix my oem one instead of installing the 1.6 el.

Rep Power: 313 So you did all that work taking the door panel off just to try to fix the crappy paper cone OEM speaker? Do yourself a favor and buy some good aftermarket 6.5's. Any brand will do, as long as it is not OEM. An aftermarket speaker has a stiffer cone, larger magnet and dome tweeter to produce a fuller sound. It doesn't even have to be a brand name, anything is better than OEM. Think about it, they put those OEM pieces of crap in there to satisfy the needs of old grannies who drive 5 minutes to church. Do not tell me that you are content with that! Take your behind to the nearest audio shop and get some nice aftermarket speakers ASAP!

Rep Power: 0 It's definately not wiring of car. I plugged the 1.6 EL in and they work. No way I'm going through the trouble taking off 2 door panels.
But yeah... I've decided to go for a pair of used Alpine Type Rs. They would still sound better than OEMs without an amp right?

Rep Power: 0 I've already seen that howto lol. I used it to take off my door panel. I asked about spacer cause someone was asking and I said I don't know.
also... what's the size for the rear speakers? i'll probably replace the whole car with pioneer g series temporarily until i am rich enough for a good A/V system in my car.
just to be sure.. the g series ARE better than Honda OEM components right? I have the top model of 2004, so I'm not talking about Civics without door sail tweeters. my friend was amazed at the quality of the cone material.. they're not like construction paper type

Rep Power: 365 Your friend is probably.. well, i'll be nice.
dude, head here... www.crutchfield.com and fill out the specs on your car to see what will fit.
As was said, dont buy used audio equiptment... thats just retarted. Speakers have a life... dont adopt an adult.

Rep Power: 0 I have an Alpine h/u. Plus I got Boston Acoustics S65RC for front and S95? for rear instead of the Pioneer G series. Got them from Ralph Audio. They gave me a great discount... or so they say.
