Fitting Older CD Changer to Civic

Hi All

This is my first post here, so forgive me if my etiquette is not good!

I have a '02 VTEC Civic sport (3-door hatch), with a standard single-cd head unit. This head unit has a 14-pin socket at the rear for CD changer connexion.
I also have a 1995 genuine honda CD-changer (model 08A06-166-420)

My questions are:
Can I easily fit this unit into the Civic?
Do I have to go to Honda for the lead/cable?
Is the CD Changer a standard Alpine unit? It has a short flying lead with DIN 8 pin male connector.

So many questions! I hope you can advise
me
Thanks

I have no idea how to help you with this.. but have a free bump anyways!

Why do you want to change it out, if you don't mind me asking

instead of going thought all this just buy a cheaper cd changer then install.
you can buy a cd changer now a days for 60-100 bucks .if you sell the one you have now you could buy it with that money.

does the newer HU have the same connector on the back? if not, you can prolly get an adapter and connect it to the aux in or RCA-in if it has them.

In my personal opinion I would just get a new head unit and then get an iPod interface or something close, even an AUX input would work... Some are even now iPod direct connect now.

Cant you find an adapter? If not, and your determined to do it, look into rewiring the harness.

Hi all

Cheers for input.

I'd like to keep the stock HU if I could, and I just happened to have the honda changer, but it's from another - older - honda.

Just to clarify, the changer unit I have fits in the boot - the trunk to you guys in the US :-)

Anyways, Called up my dealer today, firstly he told me yes, I can sell you a lead, no problem. £72! That's $140!!
Anyway, I said i'd think about it. He calls me back 10 minutes later and says - no good, the head unit is Clarion (It's a 3YC2, so is it Clarion?) and the changer is Alpine, and the connecting lead won't work. So now doubly confused. Looks like I'll have to buy a Sony/Clarion CD changer and adaptor. Or bite the bullet and get a new HU.
HELP!
Cheers
