Help 911 urgent.. HU out cold

Ok so heres the deal. I have a aftermaket HU, i took it out just to wire somthing in behind it, now for reasons completely unknown to me i have no power at my head unit, my door locks dont work unless the car is on/running and my oddometer keeps reseting back to the normal veiw from trip1..

Ive checked for power out of the yellow wire ( hot always for any aftermarket HU).. and its ice cold. checked the fuse, not blown. checked power at the fuse, cold. now im stumped.. i have no idea unless there is some sort of crazy security thing i triped somehow.

PLEASE HELP ME!!

So did you end up changing the fuse? Did it blown?
I"m going to be installing a new HU tommorow and I'm kinda curious how to prevent that from happening?

Thanks

It is basicly a fuse that protects certain small circuits that require constant power. ( multiplex unit, keyless rcvr, radio memory)

Safest way to prevent is to un-hook battery - terminal before doing any electrical work or be super cautious with the constant power wiring while working.

Disconnecting the battery should always be the first, best step to protecting yourself and your car when working on any electrical parts. I know there are a lot of guys out there who take the macho way and just wing it, but that's always asking for something bad to happen...

Hope it worked out okay. Was it that fuse?

ever since back in the day, when i was the audio moderator on this site from 2002 to 2005, i've had to mention the backup fuse eleventy billion times

and yes, please disconnect your battery, thats the reason i dont have cruise control today (electrical fiasco while trying to re-route the a/c controls to the driver door panel back in 2004)

Eleventy billion times? Is that...a lot?

Seriously, it's amazing the simple things that people these days totally neglect when working on a car.
